Where Heritage Meets the Soil

Our farm isn’t just land. It’s 70 years of stories, seasons, and sacrifice. Every nutmeg tree you see has been tended by hands that understand the soil, the climate, and the craft of growing spices the way they were meant to be grown.

Located in the Heart of Malabar, Kerala, our farm sits in the legendary region where nutmeg has thrived for centuries. The tropical climate, the monsoon rains, and the rich soil create the perfect conditions for growing the world’s most aromatic nutmeg.

1. The Nutmeg Tree

The journey begins with the nutmeg tree—a tropical evergreen that flourishes under the canopy of Kerala’s monsoon forests. Our trees grow beneath natural shade from coconut palms and other native trees, creating a mixed plantation that honors the biodiversity of Malabar.

Each tree is hand-selected and carefully nurtured over decades. Some of our trees are over 40 years old, producing nutmeg that carries decades of accumulated flavor and complexity.

2. The Blossom

Before the fruit comes the blossom—a delicate, cream-colored flower with distinctive red-tipped stigmas. These flowers are a sign of health, vitality, and the promise of what’s to come. We protect these blooms through every season, knowing they’re the foundation of our harvest.

3. The Fruit Develops

Over months, the flowers transform into fruits—round, fleshy pods that hang from the branches like precious jewels. We monitor each fruit’s development, watching as the green hue deepens and the pod becomes full and ripe.

The fruit contains three treasures: the seeds (nutmeg), the bright red mace (the seed covering), and the fibrous exterior. Nothing goes to waste on our farm—everything is part of the traditional spice legacy.

4. The Harvest

Harvest time requires patience and expertise. We pick fruits only when they’re perfectly ripe—never too early, never too late. Our team handpicks each fruit, carefully placing them in woven baskets, just as our grandfather did 70 years ago.
This isn’t mechanized agriculture. This is respect for the crop and understanding that quality can never be rushed.

5. The Processing

After harvest, the real craft begins. The nuts are dried naturally in the Kerala sun over 6-8 weeks, developing their distinctive aroma and flavor. The mace (the red covering) is carefully separated and dried as a separate spice.

We then hand-sort every nutmeg, checking for quality, aroma, and appearance. Only the finest nuts proceeds to milling.

6. Hand-Milling

Here’s where tradition meets perfection. Our grinding is done using traditional stone mills that preserve the essential oils and warmth of the spice. Modern mechanical grinding generates heat that damages the delicate compounds that make nutmeg special.

Our hand-milling process is slower, but it’s the only way to preserve the true flavor and aroma that made Malabar nutmeg famous across the world.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

We don't just farm nutmeg—we farm with the land, not against it.
  • No Chemical Pesticides: Our farm uses traditional, organic methods to manage pests and diseases. We employ companion planting, natural predators, and time-tested techniques passed down through generations.
  • Mixed Cropping: Rather than monoculture, our farm is a living ecosystem. Coconut palms, spice bushes, banana plants, and native trees grow together, creating a natural balance and preserving biodiversity.
  • Water Conservation: We use the natural monsoon cycles and traditional water management to ensure our plants thrive without wasteful irrigation.
  • Soil Health: We believe in feeding the soil, not just the plant. Our composting methods and organic matter enrichment ensure the earth stays fertile for the next 70 years.
  • Fair Labor: Our farm workers are family. They’re treated with respect, paid fairly, and given the security of multi-generational employment.

The Land Speaks

Walk through our farm during monsoon season, and you’ll understand why Malabar nutmeg is different. The air is thick with humidity and the scent of earth. The trees are vibrant green, their leaves glistening after the rain. The soil beneath your feet is alive with microorganisms that have worked this land for generations.

This is where science meets soul. This is where a spice becomes more than a flavor—it becomes a story, a legacy, a taste of tradition.
